Labour Day Gymkhana

!Labour Day Gymkhana!
On Monday 27Th October I went to the Ngongotaha Labour Day Gymkhana with Smokey one of my Aunty's ponies that I'm riding for her as Smokey has only been on the lead rein. I entered into the Intermediate Ring. me and Smokey did quite well, Smokey is a dappled gray 8yr old gelding he is 12.3 hands high and has a blue wall eye on his left side. He has never jumped before so Monday was just going to be for Milage. But hay in the end we got a 1st for rider on the flat and another 1st for best paced and mannered mount, we also won a 2ND for rider over jumps, a 3rd for handy hunter and a 4Th for best pony club mount because as I was going to canter Smokey did this Pig root.
At the end of the day I got the Judges Choice sash, is is so huge. I got that because at the start when we jump Smokey would canter up to the jump stop just before the jump and then he would leap over them but near the end of the jumping he would just canter straight up to the jump and he would jump it nicely and confidently. Smokey was so good and I'm so proud of him.

Differences Between a Personal Recount and a Factual Recount

...Differences...
The Difference Between a Personal Recount and a Fatcual Recount is that the Personal Recount is about when the writter is involved with the story, or something that they have done in the past or have been involved in. It is like a Diary or a Journal. But the Factual Recount is about somebody else that you saw and are recording it. The Factual Recount could be something like a News Article or something that does not involve the Writter.

My Holidays

...My Holidays...
On the First Week of the Holidays I got ready and packed up a full suitcase of clothes, so did my Mum as we were leaving for Fielding for the Show hunter Championships. On the day before we left which was the Thursday some of my friends who I ride with came over to my house to help us pack the Horse Truck. They were coming with us to Fielding to ride in the Champs as well. We packed up Heaps of food even though we were sleeping in a Cabin. We also packed up the clothes that we were going to ride in and lots of water. On The Friday we left for Fielding my Instructor drove. We finally got there and we met the rest of the team. There was a practice in the indoor arena around 5-6 o'clock. so we all rode over there as one team. The smaller Ponies or the Category A's were Jumping but the higher Ponies and Horses or the Category B's and C's are the higher Ponies and The Horses are called The hacks, just got to walk , trot and also have a little canter. It was so windy but also it was so much fun. Luckily for me my Pony gets a bit angry with other horses and he try's to bite and kick them so we got to put him in one of the indoor stables. As with all the other horses and ponies had to be put in an outdoor pen.
On the Saturday our whole team was so nervous so we all helped each other out. We had certain times that we had to be in the ring by and I had to be in ring 2 around 9:30am. My pony was really good but he just got a bit pulley and also a bit speedy. I did my first round and that was quite good other than all the wind. It was so windy that most of the adults had to hold up the jumps. As I jumped over the last 3 stride double the jump it got Blown over. The judge didn't mark me hard on that so overall I thought it was quite a good second round. After both rounds I un-tacked my pony and put him back in the stable with some silage and water and I gave him some treats.
On the Sunday which was the last day of the champs all of the groups and heights of horses and ponies had to go into the indoor arena because it was just so wet cold and all the jumps just keep on being blown over. My group was in first the catergory C's. My first class was an Equitation class which is on the rider and how the rider controls the horse and if something went wrong if it was the ponies fault or not. I think I got 7th or 8th in that class. I was really proud of myself and my pony. It was Back to Back, and that means that once you have finished your first round you come straight back to walk and then you wait for the judge to give a signal or something like that, then you pick up canter and start your second round. My second round was so good and at the end evryone on the sideline clapped so it must of looked good. Anyway I think for my second round I got something like 10th place or close enough to that anyway. Then all the other heights had both their rounds.
By the time everyone had finished it was like 9 to 10 o'clock at night. Then it was prize giving, our team got 8th overall I think and I thought that was pretty good, because for most of us that was our first time at the Championships. We all got a rosette at the end of the weekend and my team all got a t-shirt each that says their first name on it with Show Hunter Championships 2008. Once we had packed the truck up again and loaded up our horses and helped everyone pack up we left for home. We had to drop off my friend and her horse at there house so we got there at about 3 o'clock in the morning. Finally we left and headed straight to home. We arrived at my house around 4:30 in the morning and we were all so tired. Luckily it wasn't a school day. My instructor slept in the truck instead of driving back to her house because she had to go to the racetrack to ride some race horses in the morning.
!!!!Overall The Weekend was really FUN and I hope you enjoy my recount on my Holiday!!!!
